“Protect Geoheritage • Call for civilized touring” Activity Was Carried Out

From International Museum Day on 18 May to China Tourism Day on   19 May, Management Committee for Zhangye Danxia Great Scenic Area and Administration for Zhangye Geopark stick to the combination of online popular science updating and offline on-site promotion and information consultation, meticulously planned and carried out “Protect Geoheritage • call for civilized touring” thematic activity. During the activity, more than 50 pieces of popular science information had been pushed to various websites, Sina Weibo and Wechat official accounts. On the activity site, staff members from Management Committee and Administration put up promotion posters, gave out leaflets more than 200 pieces, and interpreted landscapes, rare geoheritages, rich cultural heritages and special ethnic customs in Zhangye Geopark to 500 and more visitors, aiming to guide tourists to cherish earth resources, protect geoheritage and be a civilized visitor.

Zhangye Danxia Great Scenic Area and Zhangye Geopark hold unique geological culture, rich cultural resources and geoheritages as well as animal and plant resources. Geological heritages in Caiqiu, Binggou Danxia and Jiugequan Ophiolite suite contain the international significance. Rich historic culture and natural remains such as Yugur customs, Yumushan rock paintings, Binggou Sunan dicynodon, Binggou silicified wood have high ornamental and scientific research value. Tourists expressed one after another that they would start with themselves, making the geoheritages protection a voluntary action throughout the whole society, deepening the civilized touring concept, contributing to proper development, strict protection and sustainable utilization of Zhangye Danxia Landform and the geoheritages in Zhangye Geopark.
