Zhangye UGGp and Xiangxi UGGp Welcome the Revalidation Together

On July 7th, 2020, at the 209th meeting of the Executive Bureau of the UNESCO Global Geopark Network held in Paris, France, the Zhangye Geopark in Gansu and Xiangxi Geopark in Hunan were officially approved as UNESCO Global Geopark. In 2023, both Zhangye UGGp and Xiangxi UGGp will be revalidated.

Recently, seven staff of the Xiangxi UGGp Administration visited Zhangye UGGp for investigation and exchange. Together with the staff of Zhangye National Geopark Administration, they went to cooperative companies such as Colorful Hills, Chinese Yugur Customs Corridor, Danxia Colorful Town, Yugur Ethnic Cultural Heritage and Experience Center, the UGGp School, analyzed and discussed how to improve the display of the park, strengthen the construction of guide signs and interpretation system, enhance the geoscientific research, improve the management, exploit, and utilize of the geoheritage. They have identified their work’s weaknesses and jointly found improvement methods.

On the basis of the on-site investigation, a seminar was held on the re-evaluation. The director of Zhangye National Geopark Administration introduced the management work of the UGGp and the preparation work for the revalidation.
